Peracetic acid (PAA) is used for sanitizing food contact surfaces, sanitizing and disinfecting of animal premises, and as a food processing aid for antimicrobial intervention without imparting odors, colors, or flavors to the finished product. Peracetic Acid Food Processing Applications

PAA is extremely versatile across the food industry, offering a safe, effective, and sustainable option for processors to keep bacteria out of the production line. Manufacturers have found success with PAA in applications like intervention chemistry, water treatment, odor control, cooling system management, and more:

Active Ingredients: 15.0% PAA, 10.8% H2O2

HydriShield™ PA 15 HP is an antimicrobial processing aid that may be used in various food intervention applications with high maximum use limits. The formulation has a relatively high level of hydrogen peroxide compared to other products on the market, which may be desirable for certain applications. With a higher level of hydrogen peroxide, HydriShield™ PA 15 HP will give an added boost in performance.

 

Hydrishield™ PA 22 HP

Active Ingredients: 22.0% PAA, 15.8% H2O2

HydriShield™ PA 22 HP is an antimicrobial processing aid that may be used in various food intervention and fruit and vegetable processing that require a higher concentration of peracetic acid. The processing aid has a relatively high level of hydrogen peroxide compared to other products on the market, which may be desirable for certain applications. As Hydrite's most concentrated formulation of peracetic acid, HydriShield™ PA 22 HP offers the highest boost in performance.

 

Hydroxysan + NO. 494

Active Ingredients: 5.9% PAA, 27.3% H2O2

Hydroxysan + No. 494 is an EPA-registered food contact surface sanitizer formulated for use on hard, nonporous surfaces to clean, sanitize, disinfect, and deodorize. Its clear, non-abrasive, no-rinse formulation exhibits excellent bactericidal activity against a wide range of microorganisms in cold or warm water, degrading to oxygen, water, and acetic acid. Hydroxysan + No. 494 includes surfactant and nitric acid additives for a high-performance clean.

Hydroxysan 1522

Active Ingredients: 15.0% PAA, 22.0% H2O2

Hydroxysan 1522 is an antimicrobial processing aid that may be used in various food intervention applications with high maximum use limits. Both EPA registered and FDA approved, Hydroxysan 1522’s dual-purpose formulation can be used for both sanitation as well as high concentrations to wash fruit and vegetables. This one-size-fits-all product allows production facilities to rely on just one chemistry instead of multiple PAA products to get the job done.
