Sulfamic acid is a moderately strong acid with many industrial uses but is primarily used as an acidic cleaning agent. It is used for removing rust and lime from metals and ceramics, often as a replacement for hydrochloric acid. This makes it desirable for cleaning in domestic use as well as in dairy production and in brewing. Sulfamic acid can also be used in dye and pigment manufacturing, as a coagulator, a chloride stabilizer for pulp and paper production, electroplating, and in silver polishing.
Sulfamic acid is incompatible with chlorine, hypochlorus acid, cyanides, sulfides, oxidizing agents, ammonia, amines, and isocyanates. Please see SDS for full safety and compatibility information.
